Eagles Beat Bishop's

The SFC Eagles took on the visiting Knights of the Bishop's school last night in a Coastal League match. The Eagles took a quick 4-0 lead in the first game but couldn't quite put Bishop's away. It was a defensive battle with Senior Camryn Tastad keeping the Eagles in the lead for a majority of the game. 25-21 was the final score of Game 1 with the Eagles coming out on top. SFC started out strong again in game 2 but ultimately fell 25-20, which brought the series back up to 1-1. During game 3 neither team could pull away until the end when SFC won 25-21 to go up 2 game to 1. Game 4 was huge for Santa Fe Christian, leading from the get go all the until the end when they finally put the Knight's away with a final score of 27-25. Freshman Anna Aubele played a big part in SFC's game 4 win. Some key stats from the game were Abby and Kate Phillips combining for 32 kills, with Kate leading the way and team with 18. Defensive hero Camryn Tastad racked up 26 digs, while Junior Anaree Smith recorded 43 assists. Speaking with Coach Leslie Easterling after the game, she said, "We executed our practice plan and blocked really well." Blocked well they did, with Junior Sara Jones rejecting the Knights 6 times. This victory brings the Eagles record up to 16-10 on the season. The action continues on Thursday when the Eagles take on Pac Ridge at home.
