The last nine times SFC had faced the White Tigers of Escondido Charter they ended up on the wrong side of the ledger. That changed yesterday as the Eagles won a tight battle 3 - 2 at home to move to a 4 -0- 1 record on the year.
The Eagles were led by Olivia Anderson who had a strong performance in the circle. Anderson won her second game of the year and now has two wins an a save in the first five games. She earned the win allowing only two hits and two runs (both unearned) while striking out 12 and walking two.
Offensively the Eagles were led by Kayla Crecion, Aspen Lee and Maya Tyszkiewicz who combined for 5 hits, 3 runs and 3 RBIs. Crecion was 2 for 3 and scored two runs. Maya Tyszkiewicz also had a 2 for 3 day with one run scored and one RBI. Aspen Lee had one hit that drove in the winning run and had 2 RBIs on the day.
The Eagles opened the scoring in the bottom of the second when Kayla Crecion tripled and then scored on a Maya Tyszkiewicz single. Aspen Lee reached on an error driving in Tyszkiewicz. The White Tigers scored two in the top of the fourth. The game remained tied until the bottom of the sixth when Kayla Crecion led off with a single and advanced to second on bunt single by Maya Tyszkiewicz. Aspen Lee then drove a single to left field bringing home the winning run with her second RBI of the day. The White Tigers had one more chance leading off the top of the seventh with a triple. But Bryn Henson made a sensational grab on a line drive and turned it into a double play picking off the runner on third. It was the second double play Henson delivered this season and this one was at a critical time. Bryn Henson has been a defensive star all season long for SFC.
The Eagles now head off on a two-game road trip playing Foothills Christian on Friday and San Diego HS on Saturday. The Eagles return home to play Morse next Tuesday. Come out and support the team as they work to continue their hot start to the year.
