The 2024 Eagles Swim team is small in numbers, but mighty in Spirit. The team consists of Seniors: Ian Arnold, Julia Wallaces, and Amy Wolter. Junior: Gisele Patron. Sophomores: Linxi Barker and Mitchell Bailey and Freshman Nyah Pollack.
Over the weekend, the Eagles competed at the Ben Hedberg Invitational at Granite Hills and put on quite a show. Our seven swimmers, facing teams 2-4 times larger than ours, placed 13th out of 24 teams!
Individual highlights from Saturday include:
22/22 season best times - 100%
2 Personal records (Gisele, Amy, Julia, Nyah)
Girls 200 Free Relay placed 10th, just 0.3 off the CIF Division II Automatic Time Standard (Gisele, Amy, Julia, Linxi)! This is a major accomplishment since Amy and Julia swim 3 months of the year, with SFC only.
Mitchell: 4th 500 free, 6th 200 free
Ian: 4th 100 fly, 4th 100 back
Linxi: 7th 100 fly, 9th 50 free
Gisele - 9th 500 free, 9th 100 back
Nyah - first invitational swim meet ever!
Ian crushed his swims despite being sick for the better part of the last 3 weeks, which limited his training to an average of 2250 yards a workout.
Linxi had a great lead-off leg in the 200 Medley Relay and closing leg in the 200 Free Relay.
Gisele had a great lead-off leg in the 200 Free Relay, a best time for her.
from Coach Schmidt:
"Our spirit, support for every swim/swimmer, and drive to bring our best to our individual swims and the team were extraordinary!
Way to go Eagles, Keep up the great work!
