The Santa Fe Christian Boys’ Lacrosse Team tallied a 10-4 win over St. Augustine Monday afternoon at Santa Fe Christian. The boys started strong and led after the first half with a score of 8-1. The team’s overall record is now 2 wins and 1 loss.
DJ Tovtin, Joey Olmore, Nicholas Kavanagh and Evan Bennett led the way defensively causing multiple turnovers and generally wreaking havoc on the Saints’ offense. The Eagles’ defense prevented the Saints from getting into any rhythm on offense. Sam Cooper was solid in goal facing 18 shots. Bert Carnes, Andre Socha, and Aaron Bolt were also key to the defense.
Brendon DeBont led the Eagles on offense with 3 goals and 2 assists for a team high 5 points. Colton Lehberg and Rylan Goodwin logged 2 goals each. Also joining the party were Matthew Briggs and Bobby Berg each with 1 goal with Isaac Matsumoto scoring his first goal of the year. Joshua Armbruster, Jeremiah Cho and Trey Adcox had strong performances in the midfield, on offense, defense, and wing play. Colton Lehberg won 16 out of 17 face-offs to give the Eagles extra possessions.
The Eagles’ next game is Monday, April 19th vs. Coastal League rival La Jolla Country Day at SFC at 5:00. Come out to cheer on the team. Go Eagles!
