Boys’ Lacrosse vs. Francis Parker
On Monday night the SFC Eagles Boys’ Lacrosse team hosted the Francis Parker Lancers at SFC for another matchup with a Coastal League team. The boys came out firing and put up a 20-7 win over the Lancers. The team is now 4-2 and ranked #7 in San Diego County. The game included a number of “firsts” for the Eagles. Joshua Armbruster scored his first goal as a SFC Eagle. Trey Adcox had his first hat trick (3 goals in a game). Bert Carnes, normally a defensive player, got off his first shot of the season. And, an unnamed Eagle scored a rare goal for the opposing team.
The defense continued to played well. When the Eagles were 6 on 6, they only gave up 2 goals. Four of the 7 goals scored by Francis Parker were scored during penalty situations when the Eagles were playing “man down.” The defense was very aggressive on Monday and recorded a season high 7 penalties.
The offense welcomed back Bobby Berg to the field after he was on the injured reserve list for a couple of games. Bobby led all scorers with 5 goals and 1 assist for 6 points. And, it was his birthday! That has to be a first – 5 goals and 6 points for an SFC Eagle on his birthday. Rylan Goodwin exploded on offense with 4 goals (the first time he has scored that many goals in a season). Brett Koopman and Trey Adcox each had a hat trick and Isaac Matsumoto scored 2 goals for the Eagles (his first multi-score game of the season). Also with goals were Matt Briggs, Colton Lehberg and Joshua Armbruster. Colton won 22 out of 24 (92%) of the faceoffs (the first time Colton has won more than 20 face offs in a game this season).
The Eagles’ next game is Thursday 29th at La Jolla High School at 7:00pm. If you are in the neighborhood, please stop by to cheer on the team. Go Eagles!
