The Lady Eagles put on a clinic verses Sweetwater at the "5th Annual Private vs Public Showcase Tournament" held at San Diego High School. SFC turned up the pressure on both end of the court leading to a 50 to 10 final score.
Coach Vickie Carrington pushed the girls to keep up the intensity level all game and to be fundamentally sound. Brynja Rotsheck responded with a season high 15 points while dominating in the paint, pulling down 20 rebounds. Her performance earned her “Player of the Game” honors and helps build her confidence as the team heads into the final stretch of the season and then playoffs.
With Brynja locking down the boards the rest of the team turned up the intensity on defense. Piper Lenihan led the way with a season high 13 steals. Alesea Haynes had 7 while Elise Taleon and Dorcus Ndume had 4 each. This suffocating defense held Sweetwater to 3 first half points and 10 overall.
Coming off the bench to contribute to the win were Emma Morin, Gianna Griffin, Angelina Botto and Harmoney Snowten. Emma had a couple of rebounds, Gianna had 4, Angelina had 2 rebound and 2 points and Harmoney had 3 rebounds, 2 steals and 4 points.
SFC has 3 away games this week followed by a 3 game home stand the week of January 30th.
