The SFC Eagles will host Chicago Hope Academy this Friday at 3PM at SFC. Friday’s game will mark the first time these two programs have ever played each other and the first time SFC has hosted an out of state opponent under Coach Wallace’s tenure. The Hope Academy Eagles will be traveling all the way from Chicago Illinois with both their Varsity and JV football teams.
Between the two schools there are many similarities to be celebrated. Both teams have Eagle mascots, both are Christian schools, and both have strong football programs which focus on developing and mentoring young men into future Christian leaders. Friday's contest will be titled the “Eagles 40:31 Bowl” in reference to Isaiah 40:31 But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.
This week’s matchup will consist of much more than just a Friday afternoon football game. The Chicago Hope Academy will be making the long trip out to the west coast, arriving in San Diego on Wednesday afternoon. On Thursday evening both programs will share an SFC tradition “Pasta Dinner” together which highlights a guest speaker and a time of prayer. On Friday after the game, the two teams will share a meal and fellowship together. Saturday there will be a JV game at 10am, and then both programs will do a service project together before Hope academy heads home to Chicago.
In all we are in for an action packed week, come out and support both of these programs as they compete in the Eagles 40:31 Bow!
