The Varsity Softball team posted their second home win of the season and remain undefeated on the year downing Chula Vista 3 -2. Chula Vista entered the game with a 5 and 1 record and found themselves in a tight pitching dual with the Eagles. The teams exchanged opportunuties, with Eagles gaining the decisive run in the bottom of the sixth on a Kayla Emond RBI.
The Eagles were led by Torin Bennett and Olivia Anderson who combined for 7 strong innings in the circle. Torin opened the game and had 5 strike outs across three innings of work. Olivia Anderson picked up the win allowing only 2 hits and striking out 10 in her four innings of work. Mia Guzman took the loss for Chula Vista despite a good outing for the Spartans.
The Eagles opened the scoring in the first with Maya Tyszkiewicz singling and driving in Olivia Anderson for the first run of the game. The Spartans tied the game in the top of the third, but Olivia Anderson singled in Bryn Henson in the bottom half of the inning for the go ahead run. Anderson led the team at the plate with 2 hits in her three at bats. The Spartans battled back tying the game in the top of the sixth. The Eagles then went to work in the bottom of the inning, Hannah Muscat gained a lead off walk and stole second. Aspen Lee singled to right advancing Muscat to third. Kayla Emond drove in Muscat on the next at bat putting the Eagles ahead to stay.
The Eagles open Coastal League play this week again Maranatha on Wednesday at Maranatha. Come out and support the Eagles.
