The SFC Women’s Water Polo team clinched its first-ever league championship.
The team went on the road to Mesa College for a league game against Academy of Our Lady of Peace The Lady Eagles came away with the victory by a score of 22-10. The leading scorers for the Eagles were Revere Schmidt with nine goals, Mylin Bennet with five, Gisselle Fenby with four, and Morgan Day with two. Adding additional goals was Kylie Kennard and Aliyah Larson with a goal each. Mylin Bennett assisted on six goals while Morgan Day assisted on five and Revere Schmidt on four. The Lady Eagles were tough on defense led by Mylin Bennett with six steals, Morgan and Revere each had three steals while Gisselle and Aliyah had a steal each. The goalkeeping was strong with Annie Marx making six saves in the first half and Charlotte Adams making six saves in the second half.
Next up the Lady Eagle head into the San Diego Open Tournament where they will face tough competition from teams throughout Southern California. The first game is Thursday vs Olympian at West Hills HS at 3:30 pm. All the schedule details will be available on the Talon App.
