Over the last 45 years at Santa Fe Christian, our community has experienced God’s perfectness in both triumph and tragedy. If you’ve been around SFC for more than a minute, you’ve probably witnessed how His plans in the lives of our SFC family will so often bring glory back to Him.
SFC Alum and class of 97’ graduate Liz Beach (now Liz Hallin) was a standout student athlete during her time at Santa Fe Christian Schools. Liz is the daughter of beloved middle school teacher Sarah Beach. Liz attended SFC from 7th-12th grade and was a bright star within the softball program. During her 4 years on the varsity team Liz was a standout pitcher and team captain for the Eagles. Under the leadership of coaches Bob Denson and Becky Austin, Liz and her teammates had arguably the best back to back seasons in school history. They were League Runners Up in ‘96 , and the CIF Section Champions in '97. Liz went on to earn Gatorade Pitcher of the Year and team MVP awards in ‘97. One of her fondest memories was defeating league rival Horizon by a score of 3-0 to win the league title!
Personal Life - MS Diagnosis
After graduation, Liz went on to attend Cal Baptist University and play softball for all four years while earning her degree in Kinesiology with the aspirations of coaching after her playing years were over. Immediately after her college graduation, Liz returned to SFC to coach for two years before meeting her husband. When she relocated to the Lake Arrowhead area, she started to coach at Rim Of The World High School. Liz had an immediate impact on the overall success of that program leading them to two league titles along with one of her players going on to play for the USA national team .
Unfortunately life threw an unexpected curveball. Liz was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis in August of 2010 just one year after her wedding anniversary with her husband Mike. This was a shocking diagnosis that left Liz and her family scrambling for answers as the disease had progressed rapidly, drastically impacting her life.
With so much uncertainty given her diagnosis, Liz leaned on her faith and family for the strength that she needed to face the challenges of living with MS. Since her initial diagnosis in 2010, Liz has partnered with the UCSD research and development programs as well as with the MS Society that have worked tirelessly to find advancements in treatments, therapy, and hopefully a cure for MS. Thankful for God’s grace, along with the love and support of her family and friends, Liz’s health has been stable for the past four years.
Current Involvement in Softball Program
Multiple Sclerosis is a battle that Liz Beach Hallin is faced with every single day but she has used this as an opportunity to bring glory to God through her story and encouragement to others. If you have attended a SFC softball game in recent years, chances are you have seen Liz in attendance. She currently helps out in both the middle school and high school softball programs primarily mentoring pitchers and supporting the varsity program during the season. Liz views Softball as a platform to influence the younger generation and the SFC community is grateful for all that God is doing in and through her life.
