Going into the soccer season, there were questions on how the team would handle the season. The team is very young with 18 sophomores and freshmen. However, the six seniors and one junior are leading the team to success by bringing leadership, encouragement and SFC pride to each practice and game.
The team has started the season with a winning record, 4-2-1, often playing teams from higher divisions. The girls have outscored their opponents 21-7, showing they are strong on both sides of the field, offense and defense.
Coach Travasos said,
It's been a great first half of the season for SFC Girls soccer. With our largest team ever (25 players) along with our youngest (18 Freshman and Sophomores) our theme for the early season has been continuous improvement while getting to know each other. Every healthy player has gotten to play andwe culminated the early season with a hard-fought victory over Mt.Carmel. As we come back from Christmas break our focus will shift to conference play, and preparing for what we hope is a deep playoff run."
The Eagles are away at Escondido Charter tomorrow at 4pm. The White Tigers from Escondido are 3-2-2 on the season.
