Our Lady Eagles hosted their final match of the season against the Escondido Charter High School Tigers with a 12-6 win!
Prior to the match against the Escondido Tigers, Coach Roxy brought the team together for our "Senior Night" celebration to recognize and honor 3 of our Senior players, Paulina Alessio, Camryn Cleary and Ella McGriff. As Team Captains, the three players were described as positive, hard-working and determined women who showed grit and encouragement to their team. Due to family travel, Senior Esther Babin was missed but also recognized for her final season with SFC Women's Tennis. These Lady Eagles will be missed and we wish them God's blessings for their futures!
To recap the match, our Singles players had solid wins with Freshman Catherine Bailey winning both of her sets at 6-3 and 6-0. Sophomore Mary Murphy claimed a strong win of 6-2 and Sophomore Piper Lenihan also grabbed a win for the team with a score of 6-2.
The Doubles teams came together with several strong sets. Senior Paulina Alessio and Junior Chloe Rayners battled to a 7-6 win while Senior Ella McGriff and Sophomore Kayla Crecion put a 6-4 victory on the board. Senior Camryn Cleary and Junior Ella Maddux worked brilliantly together for a 6-4 win and Senior Camryn Cleary switched it up to win her final set, 6-4, with Sophomore Rebecca Lee.
It was exciting to finish the 2022 season with a win! It was agreed by all of the team that this final match was made extra special with the Senior Night celebration as well as having so much support with family, friends, students from the SFC Nest and Dean of Students Mr. Mike Siciliano coming out to cheer on the team! Huge thanks to all of you and a bigger thank you and much appreciation to Coach Roxy Potter and Coach Rick Bosmer (spelling?) for your dedication, your hard work, your guidance and all of your efforts to make this a rewarding and fun season for the whole team!
