Spencer Dougherty(Sr) def. R. Sprague from Francis Parker 8-6, then lost to the #1 seed Matthew Mu from Bishops 8-0, then went to consolation draw and defeated J. Ghosh from Francis Parker 6-2, then lost to T. MacDonald 6-4.
Spencer went the farthest in singles today by challenging every player with his quickness and defensive skills!
Kosta Kalamaras, a freshman, lost his first round to W. Olson from Bishops 8-0, then lost to N. Liu from Bishops 6-0. On aside note, Bishops lost in the semifinals of the Team CIF in the open division to Torrey Pines who went on to win the Team CIF Open Championships.
Kosta played great and as a freshman, gave his best and will most definitely be back next year to do some damage!
Tyler Fernandez, a sophomore, played T. Sun from Bishops and lost 8-1, then played T. MacDonald from Francis Parker and lost 6-0. Tyler everything he had today with spin and underhanded serves but it wasn't enough.
He will be working on his game and return next year to go even farther!
SFC also entered a doubles team today and they were the Fifth team and all Five teams fill a space in the CIF individuals Doubles draw! Mark Trammel and Jake Goodyear, both freshman, came out fighting today and lost all four sets to LJCD and Francis Parker. It was great practice since they had never played together all season!!
They are the only ones who will continue on into next week to compete in the CIF Doubles Draw next Tuesday at Balboa's Morley Field in San Diego. Play begins at 1:00.
Come support our up and coming freshman next week!
