On Monday and Tuesday our Santa Fe Christian Men’s Lacrosse team beat the La Jolla Vikings 13-3 and the Westview Wolverines 10-3. SFC’s record is now 10-2 and 3-0 in the Coastal League. According to LaxNumbers, the team is ranked 5th in San Diego County.
The Eagles dominated the Vikings on Monday from start to finish scoring 3 goals in the 1st, 2nd and 3rd quarters and 4 goals in the 4th quarter. SFC had twice as many shots as La Jolla and three times the number of shots on goal. Bobby Berg (Senior) and Magnus Falkiewicz (Freshman) led the Eagles with Bobby scoring 5 goals and logging 1 assist (6 points) while Magnus went off with 4 goals, his most in an Eagle uniform. Great job Magnus. SFC had 4 man-up opportunities and scored on 3 out of the 4. The Eagles defense gave up only 3 goals and caused 9 turnovers with DJ Tovtin (Senior), and Parker Guiltinan (Freshman) each recording 2 caused turnovers. Sam Cooper (Senior) stopped 57% of the shots on goal he faced. Colton Lehberg (Senior) won 17 out of 17 faceoffs.
In the game against Westview on Tuesday, SFC had a narrow lead at the half with a score of 4-2. However, in the 3rd quarter the Eagles’ offense came alive scoring 4 goals and shutting out the Wolverines to take a 8-2 lead after 3 quarters. Brendon De Bont (Senior) lead the Eagles with 3 goals and 2 assists (5 points) and Bobby Berg added 3 goals and 1 assist (4 points). Parker Guiltinan also had 2 goals. The defense held the Wolverines to only 17 shots and only 10 shots on goal, while SFC had 39 shots and 16 shots on goal. Six different SFC players caused turnovers in the game. Sam Cooper had a stellar game stopping 70% of the shots he faced.
The Eagles had Wednesday off as they head into a rough stretch of 3 games in 3 days, including Friday against Grossmont (#3 in San Diego County) and Saturday against St. Margaret’s (#1 in the State). The next game for the Eagles is Thursday, April 21st at Pacific Ridge at 4:00pm.
