Our Santa Fe Christian Men’s Lacrosse team beat the Pacific Ridge Firebirds on Tuesday night for the team’s second Coastal League win. The final score was 15-3. The Eagles are now 4-2 on the season and 2-0 in Coastal League play. SFC is currently ranked 6th in San Diego County.
The Eagles started fast and furious on offense scoring the game’s first goal a mere 8 seconds into the game. On the play Colton Lehberg (Senior) won the face-off, sprinted down the field, made a crisp pass to Bobby Berg (Senior) and Bobby buried it in the goal. SFC did not let up and ended the first quarter with a lead of 5-0. The team’s traded 2 goals each in the second quarter and the Eagles led 7-2 at the half. In the second half it was all SFC. The team scored 4 goals in each of the 3rd and 4th quarter for 8 goals in the second half.
For the game, the Eagles outshot the Firebirds 44 shots to 18 shot.
Bobby Berg led the team with 4 goals. Four different SFC players each added 2 goals - Brendon De Bont (Senior), Rylan Goodwin (Senior), Matthew Briggs (Junior), and Trey Adcox (Sophomore). Rylan also logged 2 assists and Brendon also had an assist. Rounding out the scoring were Colton Lehberg (1 goal and 2 assists), Parker Guiltinan (1 goal) and Logan McClurkin (with his first career SFC goal).
The SFC defense was as stingy as ever shutting out the Firebirds in the 1st and 3rd quarters and only giving up 1 goal in the 4th quarter. Sam Cooper (Senior) was amazing between the pipes saving 11 of 14 shots on goal for a remarkable save percentage of 79%. Four different Eagles defenders caused 2 turnovers each in the game, Sam Cooper, Parker Guiltinan (Freshman), Evan Bennett (Senior), and Ben Wakeham (Freshman). Way to go defense.
The next game for the Eagles is Friday at Carlsbad at 7:00pm. Carlsbad is 6-2 on the season and ranked 12th in San Diego County.
