On Saturday 8/24, the SFC Cross Country team competed in the Vaquero Invitational at Lindo Lakes in Lakeside. There were 50 schools represented from all over San Diego.
The Eagles had 13 boys and 13 girls compete. For 11 of them it was their first ever HS Cross Country race.
Sophomore Eloise Martenson placed 1st in the Frosh/Soph race with a great time of 10:00 over the 1.65 mile course. Freshman Revere Schmidt placed 2nd overall in the same race just 8 seconds back. That 1-2 punch lead our SFC team win in that Girls Frosh/Soph divisional race. Sophomore Alex Bobowski had a runaway victory in the boys Frosh/Soph race with an incredible time of 8:17, over 30 seconds ahead of the 2nd place finisher. Combining all 3 divisions of Frosh/Soph races throughout the meet, Bobowski had the 2nd fastest time of the day out of 469 Frosh/Soph runners. For our returners, we had 9 PR’s (Personal Records) from the same course last year. Our Junior/Senior veteran girls placed 3rd overall in their divisional race, lead by Summer Kloer’s 17th place finish.
Next up the Eagles compete at the CCA Raven’s Fleet Feet Invitational at Canyon Crest on Saturday, August 31st. Races start at 8:30 am.
