Boys’ Lacrosse: Week 2
The Santa Fe Christian Boys’ Lacrosse Team suffered their first defeat of the season on Tuesday evening against a very strong St. Margaret’s team. The game was played at St. Margaret’s in San Juan Capistrano. The team is now 1-1.
The Eagles took a 2-0 lead into the second quarter with the defense shutting down St. Margaret’s potent offense in the opening period. St. Margaret’s came roaring back with 3 goals in the second quarter and the Eagles trailed 3-2 at the half. It was a defensive battle. Sam Cooper faced 31 shots during the course of the game and had some amazing saves. Evan Bennett, Brett Koopman, DJ Tovtin and Bert Carnes played outstanding defense to lead the way against a talented and athletic St. Margaret’s team.
On the offensive end of the field, Bobby Berg and Colton Lehberg each had a “hat trick” scoring 3 goals. Brett Koopman added 2 goals. Brendon DeBont had 2 assists.
The Eagles’ next game is Monday, April 12th vs. St. Augustine at SFC. The Saints have a 1-1 record with a one goal win over Westview and a 9-goal loss to La Costa Canyon. Come out a cheer on the team. Go Eagles.
