SFC senior and current Wake Forest cross country commit Mark Trammell is off to a blazing start this Fall for the Eagles cross country team. Over the weekend, Trammell won the boys varsity race with a 3-mile effort of 14:36.4 at the 40th Annual Woodbridge Cross Country Classic at SilverLakes Sports Complex presented by ASICS. This event was one of the largest prep events in the country, which brought in dozens of schools from all over the Western region of the United States. At the event, Trammell improved by nearly 90 seconds from his previous-best career 3-mile performance, leading Santa Fe Christian to a seventh-place finish with 325 points.
Trammell has been an integral part of the SFC cross country program over the past 3 years. His hard work and dedication to the program have helped to build a strong culture in which teammates are constantly pushing each other to be at their best. Like several of his teammates who have gone before him, Trammell has earned the opportunity to continue his running career at the next level. Last month Trammell announced his commitment to attend Wake Forest University and compete as a member of the men's cross country team. Currently Wake Forest is a nationally ranked top 15 Division I cross country program.
Congratulations Mark, and Go Eagles!
SFC cross country will hit the course this Friday, September 24th for the 33rd Annual Coach Downey XC Classic at Morley Field (2:30PM).
