The Santa Fe Christian Lady Eagles Water Polo team is having one of its strongest seasons in many years. There is a lot of excitement at the pool as the Lady Eagles have a young squad with eight freshmen on this year’s team.
The team had great performances in back to back wins last week. The team defeated Our Lady of Peace 15-5 on Monday at Mesa College followed by a dominating 15-4 home victory over Orange Glen HS. Freshman Mylin Bennett led the scoring against Orange Glen with 4 goals and multiple assists. Also contributing with multiple goals in the game were Amara Dumas, Morgan Day, Makenna McNeff, Sofia Gonzalez and Ryan Rodriguez. Annie Marx made many great saves in goal to secure a solid win for the Lady Eagles.
The team improved its overall record to 5-8 as it works toward qualifying for the Division III CIF tournament. The team has won its games when matched with division III opponents while most of its losses have been to higher division teams. The team has one remaining home game on Friday, February 1st at 8:00pm at the Boys & Girls Club in Solana Beach. Come out and support the Lady Eagles.
