Alumni, Luke Bailey, Making Headlines on Pepperdine’s Golf Team
ALPHARETTA, GA. – The Pepperdine men’s golf team finished the first round at the Golf Club of Georgia Collegiate Invitational this morning.
The Waves started off hot, but ended up finishing even on the day. They are currently in seventh after shooting 288 in the opening round. Pepperdine was highlighted by Luke Bailey who shot an impressive 67 (-5) and picked up six birdies, including one on the first and last hole today. He is currently tied for second and just one stroke off the lead heading into the second round. The Waves will tee off on hole 10 starting at 7:15 a.m. PT tomorrow morning.
PLAYER SCORES
- Freshman Luke Bailey (Encinitas, Calif./Santa Fe Christian HS) is tied for second after shooting a 67 and collecting six birdies. After a bogey free 2-under front nine, Bailey came out firing as he birdied three of the first four holes on the back. He then played the last five holes even after picking up his sixth birdie on the 18th hole.
- Junior Mahanth Chirravuri (Chandler, Ariz./Hamilton HS/USC) is tied for 29th. He birdied the first hole on the front nine and the back nine but ended up 1-over on the day.
- Junior Brady Siravo (Sacramento, Calif./Jesuit HS) is tied for 41st after posting a 74 in the first round. He notched three birdies on the front nine, before finding trouble on the back.
- Sophomore William Walsh (San Mateo, Calif./Junipero Serra HS) is also tied for 41st, he is 2-over but was able to amass three birdies today.
- Sophomore Byungho Lee (Seoul, South Korea Spring Creek Academy) is tied for 64th. He is 5-over but was able to finish his round with back-to-back birdies.
