The Eagles had a rough start to the week, losing to non league opponents La Jolla High School 200 to 236. While the team struggled, Junior Luke Bailey had quite the day with a two under par 34 on the Valley Course of Fairbanks Ranch CC. What might be the most impressive part of Bailey's 34 is that he put his opening tee ball into water to start his round. A string of Par's and lead to birdies on 3 of his last 4 holes to get to -2. His round of 34 ties him for the second lowest round in program history. The team record for lowest score is held by Nick Cable, who recorded a four under par 32 back in 2017.
Getting back into Coastal League play, the boys got back into winning ways with a victory over La Jolla Country Day 208 to 232. The Eagles were led by freshman Gavin Bostrom carding a two over par round of 37 to lead the boys to victory. Senior Drew Bickley and Junior Connor Melehan backed up Bostrom with rounds of 42 to help out. The victory of LJCD means that the Eagles remain undefeated in League play, as the boys try to capture the league title, something they haven't done since 2017.
To finish off the week, the Eagles traveled to one of the tougher courses in all of San Diego, La Jolla Country Club. The greens at LJCC are known to be some of the fastest greens around, with subtle breaks that make putting a challenge. SFC played a tough close match against La Jolla High again, but eventually fell 212-219. Traveling to a new course is never easy, and the team struggled to adapt to such a new and difficult course. Team was led on the day again by Junior Luke Bailey carding a respectable three over par 38 the first time seeing the course, followed by Freshman Gavin Bostrom with a five over 40.
SFC gets back into league play next week with their toughest league opponents on the schedule, hosting Bishops and Classical academy.
