Junior Pitcher Sage Sturgeon didn't allow a single run and only two hits as our SFC Varsity unit defeated a very good Mission Hills team 2-0 on a beautiful Thursday afternoon.
Sturgeon struck out 10 batters while Mission Hills only had half that number. SFC's lefty pitcher lasted all seven innings and only allowed two hits and one walk.
Jake Reese led SFC with two hits in three at bats. SFC didnt have a single error on defense and was stellar all afternoon.
Sturgeon turned heads in the stands and in the dugout during the top of the 6th inning by fielding a red hot line drive hit directly at him, then pivoting 180 degrees to throw out the batter at second base who was leading off to reach 3rd base. The brilliant play ending the at bat for Mission Hills.
SFC's next opponent is at Torrey Pines, Monday 3:30 PM.
