SFC Men's golf had two non league matches this week against top 15 opponents in La Jolla High School and Canyon Crest. Both matches on home soil certainly helped out, and with tight matches on the horizon, it would take some good golf to walk away with some wins.
On Monday, the first tee shot at Fairbanks has water on the left hand side of it. 4 of SFC's 6 golfers hit it in the water on their opening tee shot. Not the start you want in a short 9 hole match. Counting strokes on the first hole alone, the Eagles were +10 as a team. But the boys picked themselves up and finished the day with a team score of 202, only +22 as a team on the Lakes Course of Fairbanks Ranch. Took a lot of focus and grinding to not let the first hole ruin the day, which paid off with a pretty easy win over the Vikings, 202 to 215.
After a Day off, the boys hosted the Ravens of Canyon Crest at La Valle Coastal Club in another non league match. It would take a good day from SFC to get another victory as CCA would post their best round of the year so far in 192. But the Eagles played their best team round of the year as well posting a score of 188 to get another win. The day was truly a team day in which Senior Luke Bailey, and Sophomores Maddox Ott and Gavin Bostrom all posted one over (+1) rounds of 36 to lead the team together. The two wins move the Eagles record to 5-1 on the year. Next week gets the Eagles back into Coastal League play which will see them face the toughest team on the schedule in Classical Academy.
