The SFC Women’s Basketball team is advancing to the semi-final round of the CIF play-offs following a hard fought win over Madison High School. The Eagles put together a full team effort with all 7 players contibuting to the win.
The Eagles jumped out early lead and took a 7 point lead into half time with a strong second quarter effort. Madison fought back in the third quarter and the Eagles led by one point entering the fourth quarter of play. Madison gained the lead in the fouth quarter and SFC fought back. Ari Sit delivered 5 points with two clutch field goals in the final 2 minutes of the game to propel SFC to victory. Piper Lenihan led the team with 19 points. Piper was 10 for 11 from the free throw line with two key free throws in the final seconds to seal the win.
Jenny Stanion had another huge game with 18 points and 17 rebounds. Siena Porcelli and Alesea Haynes contributed with strong defensive play, Siena with 7 rebounds and a steal and Alesea with 7 deflections and a steal. Emma Morin and Elizabeth Bickley both added strong minutes and played tough defense for the team.
The Eagles will now advance to the CIF Semi-Finals on Tuesday night against High Tech High School in San Diego. Come out and support the Lady Eagles at 7 pm at High Tech, 2150 Cushing Rd in San Diego. The Nest was full and loud for the Madison game, let’s rock the house at High Tech this week! Let’s go Eagles!
