The Men's Varsity Water Polo team are locked into the top seeding of a local 16-team tournament play. The Eagles began with 2 games on Monday, 9/25 and will finish the tournament with 1 game on Friday, 9/29 and 2 bracket games on Saturday, 9/30/23.
The highlight of the evening though was the Eagles exciting victory, bringing it down to the wire with an 8-7 win in sudden-death overtime against the Mater Dei Crusaders.
Leading the Eagles was Sophomore Mitchell Bailey who had a dominant game in all areas. Bailey scored 7 goals, including the tie-breaker goal in OT, won three sprints and added three field blocks and a steal on defense. Junior Henry Maas added a goal and two steals while Senior Ryan Harrison, Junior Ben Wakeman, and Sophomore David Coyle all brought strength to the offense line-up with goal assists.
In goal, Senior Tre Grove was solid on defense, making 6 saves to help secure this win for the Eagles.
The first win of tournament play was Santa Fe leading big, 15-5, over the Monte Vista Matadors.
