Exciting day today for the SFC Women's Varsity Tennis as they took over Horizon Prep in a non-league 13-5 victory! Big wins all around starting with Junior Mila Sonkin completely dominating the Singles players winning all 3 of her matches, 6-2, 6-2 and 6-0. Junior Kalia Schempp also played strong with 2 wins of 6-2 and 6-1 while Freshman Catherine Bailey completed the Singles wins adding 2 big victories to the tally, 6-1 and 6-2. All three of the Doubles teams putt 2 wins on the board starting with Junior Kayla Crecion and teammate Freshman Abby Schneier taking a strong lead with 6-0 and 6-1 wins. Junior Olivia Grimstad and Junior Andrea Allessio kept the winning going posting two huge wins of 6-0 and 6-0 while the final team of Freshman Breezy Frederick and Freshman Peyton McKenna played brilliantly together with two victories at 6-0 and 6-0. GOLDEN EAGLE AWARD - The "Golden Eagle Award" was given to the dynamic team of Freshman Breezy Frederick and Freshman Peyton McKenna. This amazing couple never stopped encouraging each other and staying focused on the task. They kept all of us excited as we watched them take on Horizon's #1 Doubles team - losing the match but fighting back from behind for a worthy battle. Great job Breezy and Peyton!! About the "Golden Eagle Award" - Each match, Coach Chuck, Coach RIck and Coach Tricia will determine which player or players (for a doubles team) should be given the "Golden Eagle Award". The Award represents the athlete(s) who gave an outstanding effort and displayed an outstanding attitude for the match.
